old nectar, set among the magnificent sandstone mountains ranges of the jonkershoek valley, 7km from the centre of stellenbosch, is looking to appoint a passionate person to head the property, its gardens and the accommodation.

the goal of this position is to take ownership of this sublime piece of garden & family history and manage it on behalf of the owners. you will take responsibility for the daily operations, which include gardens, tenants, neighbourly relations and events involving the public. you will become the owner’s eyes and ears on the property, making certain that issues are being dealt with promptly and the property itself is cared for professionally.

the old nectar gardens extend over four hectares and are comprised of numerous individual garden localities. it is important to note that the gardens are open to the public and thus careful planning, cognizance of related health and safety aspects and staff training and management are of the highest priority.

your duties will include, but not be limited to:
• buildings, garden and farm equipment maintenance
• management and skills development of the small workforce
• management of tenants and their rented accommodation
• management of irrigation, fertilising, pest control and similar agrarian activities
• management and implementation of new projects
• budget management

your duties will include regular interaction with tenants ranging from rental contracts through to resolving concerns & needs, general maintenance and ensuring that the landlord responsibilities are adhered to in a professional and friendly manner. old nectar’s source of income is from the rental of cottages, venue fees for events such as weddings, concerts and private conferences and garden visitors.
general property

old nectar’s historic wine cellar is now used for weddings, concerts and private functions. this cellar was built in the early 1800’s, at the same time as the manor house and was in use for wine making from the early 1800's until the 1960's; it still contains 18 large and venerable french oak vats. your duties will include the management of its use by third parties for such events.
