our client, a stylish, contemporary manor house, situated in stellenbosch is looking to appoint a house manager to ensure that the service delivery, on all levels, exceed that of the guest expectation. based on a wine farm your role will include integration & liaison with the marketing team. hosting private functions, providing loyal consumers with accommodation & including guests into the wine tasting experience.

duties of this position include, but are not limited to :-

guest experience
our aim is to treat each guest in a way that optimizes their end-to-end experience across all parts of the property. it is the sum total and cumulative result of all of the interactions & communications that take place. inter alia:
• meet guests when they arrive and get them settled in their rooms
• anticipate guests’ needs by learning their preferences, allergies, dislikes, etc.
• ensure guests’ rooms are clean and tidy up when necessary
• recommend and arrange amenities for guests
• see guests off when they check out
• run errands for guests when necessary
• serve meals and pour drinks for guests

staff management
the very nature of the industry is to provide hospitality, and that requires the use of people in delivering proper services. recruiting, managing, and providing direction to this small team of dedicated individuals are of the utmost importance. providing constant & consistent guidance on professional, yet true south african hospitality. perfecting housekeeping practices in accordance with both statutory & guest requirement & needs. and over and above, taking care of housekeeping staff – keeping morale high by providing guest feedback and positive reinforcement.

ensuring that the “product” is pristine, presentable & luxurious. your attention to detail will extend from the point of entry through to the exit of every guest. look & feel should be consistent, clean & welcoming. general maintenance, gardens & outdoor amenities require daily oversee & management. wine cellar & food offerings stocked, managed & controlled at all times. responsible for the reservation process. interaction with agencies, online bookings and direct inquiries. our guests choose to return; you will be required to nurture relationships in order to provide them with new opportunities. the future growth is dependent on securing an appropriate network of bespoke operators & service providers. you will be required to partake in research in this regard. you will have access to the social media team and your involvement in their activities will be key in aligning exposure to the appropriate audience. in addition to your professional, yet hospitable, demeanor you will be pro-active, meticulous, accountable, energetic, dynamic, reliable and trustworthy, you will have an innate sense for detail and ensure that first impressions are in line with guest expectations. you will remain well groomed at all times and perform your duties with discretion, professionalism and a pleasant demeanor.

• 3 – 5 years' experience working as a butler/household manager in a private/public residence
• applicable qualification - household or hospitality
• dynamic, friendly yet professional person with kind and honest attributes who values the discretion required.
• fluent command of afrikaans and english in verbal and written communication. additional language would be advantageous.
• detail oriented with the ability to manage the entire smooth running of the home.
• flexible and able to accommodate fluid schedule including public holidays and weekends. schedule is flexible in accordance to the guests needs. availability required on weekends and public holidays.
• drivers licence.
