dgb, one of south africa’s largest independent wine and spirit producers & distributors, is looking to appoint a wine marketing manager who will take custodianship of the boschendal wine brand and be responsible for all ‘through the line’ wine marketing activities, including the development and implementation of short, medium and long term global strategy.

the marketing manager will be a part of a creative, integrated, multi-channel marketing department and will need to ensure that strategic and tactical marketing plans designed to capitalise on market opportunities within the local and international wine markets are executed.

you will be required to:

• develop a global brand strategy to ensure healthy, long term brand equity
• develop a brand marketing strategy and planning for trade promotion that aligns with required objectives relating to targeted brand marketing mix by channel.
• ensure all plans serve to elevate the brand, strengthen consumer awareness and engagement, comprehensively incorporating the digital media and international strategy;
• contribute to marketing effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing directives;
• developing, supervising and improving procedures to link your marketing activities with sales team activities;

this position will suit a seasoned wine industry professional who has extensive experience in all aspects of wine marketing. you will be confident in planning, communicating, influencing and execution of campaigns, promotions & research. your professional network will include industry leaders, notable customers, journalists, service providers – both locally & international. passion for wine and related industries, performance driven, ability to collaborate and work effectively in a cross functional environment, professionally articulate, excellent numeracy & exemplary communication skills will be part of your armour.

good wine knowledge, preferably supported by relevant, recognised wine qualifications. at least 5+ years in fmcg marketing role, with a minimum of 2 years having been spent in the wine industry.
